On-site nitrogen in laser cutting
Nitrogen plays a central role in modern laser cutting, particularly when high edge quality and material integrity are required. As an inert gas, nitrogen prevents oxidation during cutting, resulting in clean, bright edges without discoloration.
Laser cutting applications typically require nitrogen purity between 99.9% and 99.999%, depending on material thickness and machine specifications. Maintaining the correct purity level is essential for consistent cut quality, stable processing conditions, and reduced post-processing.

Traditionally, nitrogen is supplied in liquid form or cylinders, which involves transport, storage, and long-term supply contracts. Increasingly, manufacturers are choosing on-site nitrogen generation as a more controlled and cost-efficient alternative. With a OMEGA AIR PSA nitrogen generator, nitrogen is produced directly at the point of use, ensuring continuous availability of nitrogen.
In operations with high and constant nitrogen consumption, on-site generation can significantly reduce operating costs while providing greater control over purity, pressure, and overall supply reliability. This approach supports stable production conditions and long-term efficiency in laser cutting processes.
