Domel opens new production facility in Škofja Loka
As part of its 80th anniversary celebrations, Domel officially opened new production facilities at the Trata 2 location in Škofja Loka, Slovenia. The new site supports one of the company’s most advanced development projects to date, the serial production of a high-performance electric motor for premium electric sports vehicles.

The project started in 2020 in response to a demanding challenge from the automotive industry. Together with a strategic partner, Domel developed an advanced electric motor and a complete electric torque vectoring (eTV) system that improves torque control, vehicle stability, and driving dynamics in extreme conditions.
The total investment reached EUR 14.2 million, covering development, validation, tooling, and production equipment. Serial production began at the end of 2025, with the project planned through 2036.
The Trata 2 facility currently employs 22 people in single-shift production, with expansion and additional hiring planned in the coming months. The project involves more than 50 experts from different fields and further strengthens Domel’s position in the fast-growing e-mobility market.
